In this episode of Runners of Louisville Shannon Steiner talks about how running began when she was a child and continued on throughout her college days. Shannon was successful in high school and won state championships both as and individual and as a team on relays. She continued her running career at the University of Kentucky where she quickly realized everyone was at her same level or better. She talks about coming in as a freshman and how she struggled with the changes initially but also how she was able to work through the changes to become a better athlete. Shannon took some time away from running and came back to the sport when she turned 40. She began training hard at this time and racing 5k's almost every weekend. She PR'd at the age of 45 and ran 17.35. Shannon has shown that anything is possible with hard work and determination. We hope you enjoy our latest episode.
